Lamancha Dairy Goats
My farm began when I bought my first lamancha doe in 2006. For the last 9 years I have been improving my herd and I now compete successfully at open and state level shows. I currently maintain a show quality herd of about 10, milking up to 6 does each spring. I show at about 8 shows each summer, local county fairs, open shows, the NY State Fair, and Jr. Livestock Show in Cooperstown, NY. I have also been showing pigs, poultry, sheep, horses, and dogs at county level for over 8 years. All kids are removed as soon as they are born and are fed heat treated colostrum and pasteurized milk to prevent CAE in the herd. All animals are vaccinated for CDT in the spring and fall along with being wormed in the spring and fall with a consistent, effective wormer. I strive to bred not only quality and healthy animals for show and milk, but also quality temperaments. My lamanchas have a special place in my heart and I hope you grow to love them as much as I do! You can find Silver Wolf Farm on Facebook by clicking on the link at the top of the page for updates on sales and show achievements. Any questions at all feel free to text, call, or email me! -Helen Powers
***Update***
This past summer was my last year in 4-H and now I am looking to begin my career judging dairy goats for local shows, eventually working my way up to my ADGA judging license. I am currently a sophomore at SUNY Cobleskill and will be receiving my AAS in Animal Industries this spring. I will be studying at SUNY Cobleskill for an additional two years however, to earn my BT in Agricultural Business. Due to being away at college I made the decision to take a year off from breeding (2016-2017) in order to focus on my school work and judging career. But my herd remains at home being cared for by my mother, I believe they are enjoying their vacation a little too well… If you or someone you know is looking for a judge for your 4-H or non-sanctioned open show, please feel free to contact me! By clicking on my judging resume you can check out some of my past achievements and other information regarding judging.
